MC § 607.2.3

Smoke dampers listed for use in air distribution systems shall be installed both upstream and downstream of filters and ahead of any branch connections in supply air-handling apparatus and systems having a capacity equal to or greater than 15,000 cfm (7.1 m 3 /s). Exceptions: 1. Where the air-handling unit is located on the floor that it serves and serves only that floor.

2.Where the air-handling unit is located on the roof and serves only the floor immediately below the roof.
