624.1.1 Installation requirements.

FGC § 624.1.1

The requirements for water heaters relative to sizing, relief valves, drain pans and scald protection shall be in accordance with the New York City Plumbing Code and the following: 1. No person shall install or maintain in any dwelling unit a gas fuel fired water heater unless the heater obtains combustion air directly from the outside of the building.

2.No person shall install or maintain a gas fueled water heater in a room occupied for sleeping purposes, or cause or permit to be occupied for sleeping purposes any room in which a gas-fueled heater is installed.

3.Each heater shall be connected to a flue or outlet pipe.
