What is NYC MC § 603.4.1?

Quick Answer

This section mandates that round metallic ducts be mechanically fastened using a minimum of three sheet metal screws or rivets, evenly spaced around the joint. An exception allows for fewer fasteners in partially inaccessible areas, provided that three are placed on the exposed portion to prevent a hinge effect. Applies to building owners and contractors involved in duct installation.
