601.2 Fireplaces.

FGC § 601.2

Fireplaces (solid fuel type or ANSI Z21.50/CSA 2.22) shall be installed with tight fitting noncombustible fireplace doors to control infiltration losses in construction type listed here: 1. Masonry or factory-built fireplaces designed to allow an open burn.

2.Whenever a decorative appliance (ANSI Standard Z21.60/CSA 2.26 gas-log style unit) is installed in a vented solid fuel fireplace.

3.Vented decorative gas fireplace appliances (ANSI Standard Z21.50/CSA 2.22 units). Fireplaces shall be provided with a source of combustion air as required by the fireplace construction provisions of the New York City Building Code.
