§ 58-37 Vehicle Equipment – Taximeters.

(a)Taximeter Requirements. An Owner must equip the Taxicab with a Taximeter subject to the following conditions: (1) The Taximeter must be of a make and type acceptable to the Commission. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(1)Fine: $50Appearance NOT REQUIRED (2) The Taximeter's fare indicating mechanism must be affixed to the vehicle's dashboard so that it is clearly readable and visible to all passengers in the vehicle. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(2)Fine: $50Appearance NOT REQUIRED (3) The Taximeter's serial number or software version number must be the same as that shown on the Rate Card assigned to the Taxicab; or entered on the Rate Card by a Licensed Taximeter shop. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(3)Fine: $500Appearance NOT REQUIRED (4) The Taxicab tire size must be the same as that for which the Taximeter is calibrated, as indicated by the Rate Card. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(4)Fine: $50Appearance NOT REQUIRED (5) All Taximeter seals must be installed by a Licensed Taximeter repair shop or agent of the Commission. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(5)Fine: $500Appearance REQUIRED (6) The wiring harness leading from the Taximeter to the speed sensor must have no unapproved intervening connectors, splices, "Y" connections, or direct or indirect interruptions or connections of any kind whatsoever. 35 RCNY § 58-37(a)(6)Fine: $500Appearance REQUIRED (b) Repealed.
