§ 313-01 Sale of Kerosene Space Heaters.

RCNY § 313-01

(a)Scope. This section sets forth requirements for the sale of kerosene space heaters.

(b)General Provisions. Kerosene heaters shall be sold in compliance with the requirements of this section.

(c)Sign and Labeling Requirements. A sign shall be conspicuously posted at any location at which kerosene space heaters are offered for retail sale, and a tag or label shall be affixed to the heater or its packaging in a manner that makes it clearly visible prior to sale. Such sign and such tag or label shall bear the following statement: "The New York City Fire Code prohibits the storage, handling and use of kerosene fueled heaters for space heating. Any person violating that provision may be punished by a fine of up to $10,000 and a term of imprisonment up to 6 months."
