609.9.2 Solid fuel cooking equipment.

FC § 609.9.2

When solid fuel cooking equipment is installed in a commercial kitchen, additional Class K portable fire extinguishers shall be provided, as follows: 1. For equipment with individual fireboxes of 5 cubic feet (0.14 m3) or less in volume: One Class K portable fire extinguisher having a minimum 2 1/2 gallon (9 L) capacity, or two Class K portable fire extinguishers having a minimum 1 1/2 gallon (6 L) capacity.

2.For equipment with fireboxes exceeding 5 cubic feet (0.14 m3): Provide Class K portable fire extinguishers in accordance with the portable fire extinguisher manufacturer's recommendations.
