907.4.1 Protection of fire alarm control unit.

BC § 907.4.1

In areas that are not continuously occupied, a single smoke detector shall be provided at the location of each fire alarm control unit, notification appliance circuit power extenders, and supervising station transmitting equipment. Exceptions: 1. Where ambient conditions prohibit installation of a smoke detector, a heat detector shall be permitted.

2.In prior code buildings, where a fire alarm control unit is installed in an interior exit stairway or ramp or exit passageway, a smoke detector is not required at the location of such fire alarm control unit.
