BC § 907.2.23

An approved automatic smoke detection system shall be installed in areas containing any battery systems. Where the battery room is located in a building or space that is provided with a fire alarm system or subsystem, the smoke detectors shall be connected to such building fire alarm system or subsystem. The detection system shall be supervised by a central supervising station, or a local alarm that will sound an audible signal at a constantly attended location. Battery rooms shall also comply with the requirements of the New York City Fire Code.
