717.5 Where required.

BC § 717.5

Fire dampers, smoke dampers, combination fire/smoke dampers, and ceiling radiation dampers shall be provided as specified in Sections 717.5.1 through 717.5.7 and 717.6. Where an assembly is required to have both fire dampers and smoke dampers, combination fire/smoke dampers or a fire damper and a smoke damper shall be provided. Exception: Ducts 20 square inches (12 903.2 mm 2 ) or less passing through fire-resistance rated assemblies shall not require fire dampers or fire smoke dampers.
