Exterior balconies and similar projections shall be permitted to be constructed of combustible materials provided that the exterior balcony or similar projection affords the fire-resistance rating required by Table 601 for floor construction. Exceptions: Balconies or similar projections serving as a required exit shall not be constructed of combustible materials.
