5505.1.2.3.2 Shutoff valves on piping.

FC § 5505.1.2.3.2

Shutoff valves shall be installed in piping containing cryogenic fluids where needed to limit the volume of liquid discharged in the event of piping or equipment failure. Pressure relief valves shall be installed on all sections of piping systems where liquid is capable of being trapped (see FC 5503.2). Shutoff valves shall be installed so that piping components can be isolated for maintenance. Check valves shall be installed on discharge lines where pumps or other pressure-increasing equipment operate in parallel.
