508.4 Separated occupancies.

Buildings or portions of buildings that comply with the provisions of this section shall be considered as separated occupancies. A commercial kitchen in Group F-2 that does not comply with Section 508.1, Exception 5 shall be separated from adjoining dining spaces with 1-hour fire separation where the dining spaces are equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1, and separated with 2-hour fire separation where the dining spaces is not equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system.
