BC § 3303.7.7.2

A permanent or temporary standpipe system meeting the requirements of Sections 905 and 3303.8 shall be provided in each interior exit stair enclosure and kept in a state of readiness at all times for use by firefighting personnel, even if the site does not otherwise trigger the standpipe requirements of Section 3303.8, Item 1. Where the building will not be provided with a permanent standpipe at the end of construction, the temporary standpipe system shall be removed once the sprinkler system for the building has been signed off.
