In occupancies classified as Group R-2 or R-3, foam-filled exterior entrance doors to individual dwelling units that do not require a fire-resistance rating shall be permitted without a thermal barrier, provided that the doors are faced with aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood or other approved materials.
