Quick Answer

This section establishes a tolerance of 3 inches for the location of the head of deep foundations during installation. If the installation exceeds this tolerance, an analytical determination of the loading must be conducted based on the actual location and eccentricity of the foundations. 1810.6.1 Tolerance in the location of the head of the deep foundation.

BC § 1810.6.1

A tolerance of 3 inches (76.2 mm) from the designed location shall be permitted in the installation of each deep foundation as measured from its head, without reduction in load capacity of the deep foundation group unless otherwise noted on the foundation plans. When deep foundations are installed outside of this tolerance, the true loading on such deep foundations shall be analytically determined from a survey that defines the actual location of the deep foundations as installed and using the actual eccentricity in the deep foundation group with respect to the line of action of the applied load.
