1810.5.1 Protection of deep foundations during installation.

BC § 1810.5.1

Deep foundations shall be handled and installed to the required penetration and resistance by methods that leave the deep foundations' strength unimpaired and that develop and retain the deep foundations' required load-bearing resistance. Any damaged deep foundation shall be satisfactorily repaired or the deep foundation shall be rejected. As an alternative and subject to the approval by the commissioner, deep foundations that are damaged, misaligned, or do not reach their design tip elevation may be used at a reduced fraction of the design load based on an analysis by the engineer.
