1405.12.6 Mechanical fastenings.

BC § 1405.12.6

Thin exterior structural glass veneer installed above the level of the heads of show windows and veneer installed more than 12 feet (3657.6 mm) above sidewalk level shall, in addition to the mastic cement and shelf angles, be held in place by the use of fastenings at each vertical or horizontal edge, or at the four corners of each glass unit. Fastenings shall be secured to the wall or backing with expansion bolts, toggle bolts or by other methods. Fastenings shall be so designed as to hold the glass veneer in a vertical plane independent of the mastic cement. Shelf angles providing both support and fastenings shall be permitted.
