BC § 1029.10.2.1

Transitions where the stairway is a straight run from the stepped aisle shall have a minimum depth of 22 inches (558.8 mm) where the treads on the descending side of the transition have greater depth and 30 inches (762 mm) where the treads on the descending side of the transition have lesser depth.
