What is NYC BC § 909.6.1?

Quick Answer

This section establishes the minimum pressure difference required across smoke barriers in buildings. For fully sprinklered buildings, the minimum is set at 0.05-inch water gauge, while in buildings that are not fully sprinklered, the smoke control system must achieve pressure differences at least double the maximum calculated from the design fire. Applies to building owners responsible for smoke control systems.
