BC § 1029.1.3

Signs shall be posted in all assembly spaces, indicating the number of persons who may legally occupy the space. Every room or space in such places of assembly shall have the occupant load of the room or space posted in a conspicuous place, near the main exit or exit access doorway from the room or space. Posted signs shall be of an approved legible permanent design in accordance with Section 1029.1.4, and shall be maintained by the owner or the owner's authorized agent. Exception: Signs shall not be required where seating is fixed in place in accordance with an approved plan and no provision is made for standee spaces. Posted capacity signs, where required, shall read as follows: OCCUPANCY BY MORE THAN . . . . . . .
